Computers and Technology August 12th. 2010, 5:09amWhen Google made the announcement that they would be choosing a small number of communities around the United States to test out their new superfast fiber-optic broadband network, many cities went crazy trying to make themselves stand out as candidates for the new technology. The antics included Sarasota, Florida renaming one of its islands ‘Google Island, and the mayor of Duluth, Minnesota taking a swim in freezing Lake Superior.
